LODD: Kan. fire chief dies of heart attack

Assistant Chief Daniel Cool, 71, was at a training meeting when he collapsed; he was a 50-year veteran

An assistant fire chief died Sunday after suffering a heart attack.
U.S. Fire Administration reported that Chief Daniel Cool, 71, with the Kaw Township Fire Department #1, had responded to an emergency incident on Feb. 11. Later that day, he attended a training meeting and collapsed.
Chief Cool, a 50-year veteran, was admitted to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injury.
Visitation will be on Feb. 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kaw Township Fire Department #1.
